A generalization of Kakutani's splitting procedure (Q628605)

In this paper the author studies uniformly distributed sequences of partitions of \([0,1],\) a concept which has been introduced by \textit{S. Kakutaini} [Measure Theory, Proc. Conf. Oberwolfach 1975, Lect. Notes Math. 541, 369--375 (1976; Zbl 0363.60023)]. New families of u.d. sequences of partitions are constructed. Relations with the classical concept of uniformly distributed sequences of points are investigated. In particular a family of corresponding transformations is observed to be ergodic; partitions of the type \(\{\rho^{n}\omega\}\) are studied and a probabilistic result on related point sequences is proved.
