Consider \(\mathbb{C}^n\) equipped with a Gaussian measure \(\mu\). The Segal-Bargmann space \(H^2(\mathbb{C}^n,d\mu)\) consists of all \(\mu\)-square integrable entire functions on \(\mathbb{C}^n\). With a possibly unbounded symbol \(f\) in some linear space and the orthogonal projection \(P\) from \(L^2(\mathbb{C}^n,d\mu)\), onto \(H^2(\mathbb{C}^n,d\mu)\) the Hankel operator \(H_f\) is defined on the Segal-Bargmann space and acting by the rule \(H_fg:=(I-P)(fg)\). In [\textit{J.-B. Xia} and \textit{D.-C. Zheng}, Indiana Univ. Math. J. 53, No.~5, 1381--1399 (2004; Zbl 1079.47026)], a necessary and sufficient condition for the simultaneous membership of \(H_f\) and \(H_{\bar{f}}\) in the Schatten-\(p\)-class \(S_p\) for \(1\leq p<\infty\) and in terms of an oscillation condition on \(f\) was given. The main result of the present paper is a generalization of this result to the case where \(S_p\) is replaced by an arbitrary symmetrically-normed ideal \(S_{\Phi}\) with symmetric norming function \(\Phi\). The first sections provide some known facts in the general theory of symmetrically normed ideals. Then the hard analysis consists in the proof of various estimates that are used in the characterization of the commutators \([P,M_f]\) in \(S_p\) in terms of \(f\). The main result follows from easy relations between \(H_f\), \(H_{\bar{f}}\) and \([M_f,P]\). Finally, the characterization of a single Hankel operator in \(S_{\Phi}\) or even \(S_p\) is left as an open problem for a future investigation.
