The authors consider the nonlinear Kirchhoff-Carrier wave equation that can be used to model, e.g., nonlinear vibrations of an elastic string. Using their previous results [the last author and \textit{Tran Ngoc Diem}, Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 29, No. 11, 1217--1230 (1997; Zbl 0892.35104)] and [the last author, \textit{A. Pham Ngoc Dinh} and \textit{Tran Ngoc Diem}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 267, No. 1, 116--134 (2002; Zbl 1004.35095)] as well as the results on recurrence relations for the Newton-like methods in Banach spaces [\textit{P. K. Parida} and \textit{D. K. Gupta}, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 206, No. 2, 873--887 (2007; Zbl 1119.47063)] they are able to generalize the results obtained for the first and second order schemes to any high-order scheme.
