This paper deals with some properties of the biharmonic equation governing the propagation of flexural waves in thin elastic plates. The authors generalize some concepts like cloaking or the rotator and the mirage effect to the domain of elasticity in the special case of elliptic geometries. Despite the fact that general elastic equations are not invariant under geometrical changes, it is proven in the paper under review that cloaking through coordinates changes is applicable to some special configurations (thin plates). Finally, perfectly matched layers are performed by means of the finite elements method for the biharmonic problems.
