In this interesting paper, the authors investigate the existence and non-existence of nodal solutions of a second order boundary value problem subject to Riemann-Stieltjes integral boundary conditions, namely \[ \begin{gathered} -u''=\sum_{i=1}^{m}w_i(t)f_i(u),\;t\in (a,b),\\ \cos\alpha u(a) -\sin \alpha u'(a)= 0,\;\alpha \in [0, \pi),\\ u(b) -\int_{a}^{b}u(s)d\xi (s) =0, \end{gathered} \] where \(m\geq 1\), \(\xi (s)\) is a function of bounded variation, the nonlinearities \(f_i\) are continuous and the functions \(w_i\) are differentiable and positive. The authors use the shooting method and an energy function to prove the main result.
