The aim of this papers is to present an approximate analytical solution to a one-dimensional mathematical model of the two-phase Stefan problem. The system of parabolic differential equations governing the process of heat transform in two regions are converted to first order differential equations using finite sine transform. Using the inverse sine transform the authors find the analytical solution of the dimensionless temperature in both regions. Additionally, the location of the moving interface during the freezing process in a finite domain is studied and the results of this investigation are discussed graphically. It is shown that in particular cases the two phase problem will be converted into a one-phase problem and a comparative study of the results with other results is presented graphically.
