Powers of complex persymmetric or skew-persymmetric anti-tridiagonal matrices with constant anti-diagonals (Q632830)

For persymmetric anti-tridiagonal \(n\times n\) matrices \(B_n=\mathrm{antitridiag}_n(a_1,a_0,a_1)\) with \(a_0\in\mathbb{C}\), \(a_1\in\mathbb{C}\setminus\{0\}\) the author derives a closed form for the entries of the matrix powers \(B^q_n\), \(q\in\mathbb{N}\). The same is conducted for \(n\times n\) skew-persymmetric anti-tridiagonal matrices \(B_n=\mathrm{antitridiag}_n(1,0,-1)\). In both cases, these closed forms involve Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind. Proofs are based on earlier results by the author providing a general expression for the entries of the powers of complex tridiagonal Toeplitz matrices with constant diagonals. As an example, the entries of \(B^q_3\) and \(B^q_4\) are given for the persymmetric as well as the skew-persymmetric anti-tridiagonal case.
