Following the classical work of B. Carter on the symmetries of the Kerr black hole, the author performs an analogous investigation of the Kerr-NUT-AdS-dS black hole with special consideration being given to the near horizon geometries. It is known that this space-time possesses two linearly independent Killing vectors and admits a hidden symmetry generated by a rank 2 Killing tensor, which is derivable from a Killing-Yano potential. In the near horizon geometry, the author considers an extremal Kerr-NUT-AdS-dS black hole and shows that it satisfies the Einstein field equations with the same cosmological constant as for the Kerr black hole. It is shown that the near horizon geometry admits four linearly independent Killing vectors, however, in the limiting process determining this geometry, the Killing-Yano potential diverges. Nevertheless, by the gauge freedom in the definition of the Killing-Yano potential, the author is able to construct a well-defined potential for the near horizon geometry. He concludes by demonstrating that rank-2 Killing tensor is reducible as it can be expressed in terms of the Casimir operators expressed in terms of the four Killing vectors of the near horizon geometry. Contents include: Introduction; Kerr-NUT-AdS-dS black holes (geometry, hidden symmetry); Extremal Kerr-NUT-AdS-dS black holes (near horizon geometry, hidden symmetry); and References (twenty-one items).
