The authors study particle motion in closed and open square billiards in the presence of external periodic perturbation with the aim to explore the effect of confinement on periodically driven dynamics. This kicked billiard has additional factors which allows to manipulate the dynamics by perturbation parameters such as coupling constant and frequency of the kick. The paper explores the kicked billiard particle dynamics by calculating the time dependence of the energy both for a single trajectory and ensemble of the trajectories. In addition, the momentum transfer distribution for this system is studied. The numerical results in this paper are very interesting and important as they show that depending on the type of the kick potential, localization and strength of the perturbation force, the dynamics can be different. Numerical evidence also shows the average energy of the kicked particle grows diffusively as a function of time, as does the kicked rotor average energy. The rigorous proofs of the observations and conjectures in this paper will extend the study of classical billiards and enhance the understanding diffusion properties of certain statistical mechanics.
