Analytical solutions for the Bloch equations are well-known, and similar results were obtained for spin-one systems and three-level atoms. The authors consider a three-level system with time-dependent external fields which enable transitions between two pairs of levels. The authors generalize solitary wave solutions obtained earlier in more than one way. The external fields are modulated with Jacobi's elliptic functions. By varying the elliptic modulus, these functions interpolate between harmonic functions and single pulses. In addition, a full set of solutions is presented to reproduce an arbitrary initial condition at the zero time. Analytical results are illustrated graphically.
