    The authors discuss the neutral integral equation \[ x(t)=\gamma x(t-\sigma ) + (1-\gamma ) \int _{t-\sigma }^t f(s,x(s))\,ds, \] where \(0\leq \gamma < 1\), \(\sigma >0\) and \(f: \mathbb {R} \times \mathbb {R} ^{+} \to \mathbb {R} ^{+}\) is continuous. They give conditions on \(f\) which guarantee the existence of periodic, almost periodic, asymptotically almost periodic and pseudo almost periodic solutions \(x\) satisfying \(\inf \{x(t)\: t \in \mathbb {R} \}>0\). The proofs are based on a variant of Hilbert's projective metric on a subset of a space of continuous and bounded functions on \(\mathbb {R} \).
