Let \(d\) and \(\rho\) be two cone metrics (in the sense of \textit{L.-G. Huang} and \textit{X. Zhang} [J. Math.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 332, No.\ 2, 1468--1476 (2007; Zbl 1118.54022)]) on a nonempty set \(X\) over a cone \(P\) with nonempty interior in a real Banach space \(E\); let the cone metric space \((X,\rho)\) be complete. Suppose that \(T:X\times X\to X\) satisfies the following conditions: (i)~there exists \(R>0\) such that \(\rho(T(x,y),T(u,v))\preceq Rd(x,y)\) for all \(x,y,u,v\in X\); (ii)~there exist \(\mu,\lambda\geq0\) with \(\mu+\lambda<1\) such that \(\rho(T(x,y),T(u,v))\preceq\mu\rho(T(x,y),x)+\lambda\rho(T(u,v),u)\) for all \(x,y,u,v\in X\); (iii)~there exist \(a_j\geq0\), \(j=1,2,\dots,6\) with \(\sum_{j=1}^6a_j<1\) such that \(d(T(x,y),T(u,v))\preceq a_1d(x,u)+a_2d(y,v)+ a_3d(T(x,y),x)+a_4d(T(u,v),u)+a_5d(T(x,y),u)+a_6d(T(u,v),x)\) for all \(x,y,u,v\in X\). The author proves that, under these conditions, \(T\) has a unique coupled fixed point, that is, there exists a unique \((x,y)\in X\times X\) such that \(T(x,y)=x\) and \(T(y,x)=y\). No example is given.
