    [For the entire collection see Zbl 0718.00005.] The author gives a detailed proof of the following result which was sketched in his earlier paper [Usp. Mat. Nauk 44, No.6, 153-154 (1989; Zbl 0701.11032), English transl. in Russ. Math. Surv. 44, No.6, 192-193 (1989)]. Theorem. Let \(\alpha_ 1,...,\alpha_ k\), \(a_ i,b_ i\) be real numbers such that \(0<\alpha_ k<...<\alpha_ 1<1\) and \(0<a_ i<b_ i\leq 1\). Denote \(\delta =\min (1/4\), \(1-\alpha_ 1,\alpha_ 1- \alpha_ 2,...,\alpha_{k-1}-\alpha_ k,\alpha_ k);\Gamma =\{(x_ 1,...,x_ k)\in {\mathbb{R}}^ k: a_ i<x_ i<b_ i,i=1,...,k\}\); \(\mu (\Gamma)=| \Gamma | =\prod^{k}_{i=1}(b_ i-a_ i)\); \(S(x;\Gamma)=| \{p\leq x: (\{p^{\alpha_ 1}\},...,\{p^{\alpha_ k}\})\in \Gamma \}|\), where \(\{p^{\alpha}\}\) is the fractional part of \(p^{\alpha}\). Then \[ S(x,\Gamma)=\pi (x)(\mu (\Gamma)+O(x^{- \delta /3} \log^{k+9}x)). \]
