Given a locally compact group \(G,\) a bounded continuous function on \(G\) is called almost periodic or weakly almost periodic if the set of its left translates is relatively norm or weakly compact respectively in the space \(C(G)\) of all bounded continuous functions on \(G.\) The spaces \(\mathcal{AP}(G)\) and \(\mathcal{WAP}(G)\) of almost and weakly almost periodic functions, respectively, are well known to be \(C^{*}\)-subalgebras of \(C(G).\) This paper is motivated by the question: when is for a Hopf-von Neumann algebra \((M,\Gamma)\) the closed self-adjoint subspace \(\mathcal{WAP}(M_{*})\) of \(M \) a \(C^{*}\)-subalgebra of \(M?\) Here the predual \(M_{*}\) is canonically equipped with a mulitiplication turning it into a completely contractive Banach algebra. Some progress was achieved towards a solution of this problem by \textit{M. Daws} [Math. Z. 265, No. 2, 285--296 (2010; Zbl 1217.43002)] in the case when \(M\) is abelian and both \(\mathcal{AP}(M_{*})\) and \(\mathcal{WAP}(M_{*})\) are \(C^{*}\)-subalgebras of \(M\) in this case. The method of Daws cannot be extended beyond the case of subhomogeneous von Neumann algebras, as illustrated by the author in his work [Bull. Aust. Math. Soc. 82, No. 2, 205--210 (2010; Zbl 1204.47092)]. The author then uses the notion of complete compactness introduced by \textit{H. Saar} [Kompakte, vollständig beschränkte Abbildungen mit Werten in einer nuklearen \(C^{*}\)-Algebra. Diplomarbeit. Universität des Saarlandes (1982)] to define complete almost periodic fuctionals on a completely contractive Banach algebra. The main result by the author in [Arch. Math. 97, No. 4, 325--331 (2011; Zbl 1250.47083)] asserts that if \((M, \Gamma)\) is a Hopf-von Neumann algebra such that \(M\) is injective, then the space \(\mathcal{CAP}(M_{*})\) of all completely almost periodic functionals on \(M_{*}\) is a \(C^*\)-subalgebra of \(M.\) In this paper, the author uses the method of factorisation of completely bounded maps through reflexive operator spaces to improve the main result of [Daws, loc. cit.] to show that if \((M, \Gamma)\) is a Hopf-von Neumann algebra with \(M\) injective, then \(xy, yx \in \mathcal{WAP}(M_{*})\) for any \(x \in \mathcal{WAP}(M_{*})\) and \( y \in \mathcal{CAP}(M_{*}).\)
