The author studies the automorphisms group action on a bounded domain in \(\mathbb{C}^n\) having a boundary point that is exponentially flat. A point \(P\) in \(\partial\Omega\) is called a boundary orbit accumulation point if there are an \(X\in\Omega\) and automorphisms \(\varphi_j\) of \(\Omega\) such that \(\varphi_j(X)\to P\) as \(j\to\infty\). In the paper [\textit{R. E. Greene} and \textit{S. G. Krantz}, Several complex variables, Proc. Mittag-Leffler Inst., Stockholm/Swed. 1987--88, Math. Notes 38, 389--410 (1993; Zbl 0779.32017)], the domain \[ \Omega_\infty=\bigg\{(z_1,z_2)\in\mathbb{C}^2:|z_1|^2+2\exp\bigg(-\frac{1}{|z_2|^2}\bigg)<1\bigg\} \] was considered. It was shown that this domain has a compact automorphism group. The domain \(\Omega_\infty\) has no boundary orbit accumulation points. An example such as this bears directly on the Greene-Krantz conjecture: Let \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{C}^n\) be a smoothly bounded domain. If \(P\) is a boundary orbit accumulation point, then \(P\) must be a point of finite type in the sense of Kohn, Catlin, and D'Angelo. This conjecture is not known to be true in its full generality. The boundary points \((e^{i\theta},0)\) of the domain \(\Omega_\infty\) are of infinite type. It is important to have examples like this at hand to aid in the study of the Greene-Krantz conjecture. The purpose of this paper is to provide a good many further examples of such domains. The author provides domains with different types of geometry in different dimensions. All have compact automorphisms group. The techniques presented in this paper may prove useful in other contexts.
