In this very interesting paper, the authors show (see Theorem 2.2) that the Hilger (or delta) derivative on time scales (introduced in [\textit{S. Hilger}, Result. Math. 18, No. 1-2, 18--56 (1990; Zbl 0722.39001)]) is a special case of the Radon--Nikodym derivative with respect to the natural measure associated with every time scale (by the graininess function). In Section 3, it is also established (see Theorem 3.3) a connection between the absolute continuity on time scales (introduced in [\textit{A. Cabada} and \textit{D. R. Vivero}, J. Difference Equ. Appl. 11, No. 11, 1013--1028 (2005; Zbl 1081.39011)]) and the absolute continuity in the usual measure theoretic sense (with respect to the natural measure associated with the time scale). The main theorem enables a generalization of some results in the theory of dynamic equations on time scales, see [\textit{J. Eckhardt} and \textit{G. Teschl}, ``Sturm--Liouville operators on time scales'', J. Difference Equ. Appl. (to appear; \url{doi:10.1080/10236198.2011.600310})].
