Recall that for associative algebras, classical homology theory is Hochschild homology theory and hence it makes sense to talk of Hochschild homology of associative commutative algebras. Any commutative, associative algebra can be viewed as an \(E_n\)-algebra for \(1\leq n\leq\infty\). Note that Gamma homology is a homology theory for \(E_\infty\)-algebras. It is desirable to have a good understanding of the appropriate homology theories for \(E_n\)-algebras for \(1< n<\infty\). For augmented commutative algebras a definition of \(E_n\)-homology is due to Fresse. The aim of this paper is to prove that these homology theories can be interpreted as functor homology. The main content of the paper is explained in detail and the exposition is neat.
