A plane strain problem is studied for an electrode at the interface of a piezoelectric bimaterial space under remote electromechanical loading. The electric field as well as the electric charge of certain total value are prescribed along the electrode. The electrode is taken to be thin, and hence, all the mechanical characteristics as well as the tangential component of the electric field are taken to be continuous across the whole interface. The problem is reduced to the standard Hilbert problem with conditions at infinity, and the problem is solved exactly. The expressions for mechanical stresses, electric field and electric displacement along the interface are found in a closed analytical form, and compact analytic formulae for stresses and electric displacement at any point of the bimaterial are obtained. The variations of mechanical stresses and electric field as well as the electric displacement jump along the material interface are studied, and their intensity factors are reported. The results are reduced to those for a thin electrode in a homogeneous material as a special case.
