The regularity of the limit curves of subdivision schemes and the convergence rate of the subdivision method are the theme of this paper which specifically considers the 4-point interpolatory subdivision scheme by Dubuc. This was originally considered for equally spaced data and then generalised to non-equally spaced data. The approach uses a piecewise cubic approximation. For the non-equally spaced situation, the author has a very useful estimate of the approximation error to four times differentiable functions with uniformly bounded fourth derivative. This, of course, generalises the already known case of equally spaced data. Moreover, the approximation of the derivative of the function by the derivative of the approximant is estimated too. The latter is shown in this paper to be Hölder-continuous with a certain exponent related to the spacing of the data.
