The authors consider the question of which knots in \(S^3\) admit Dehn surgeries yielding lens spaces. They study a 3-parameter family of hyperbolic 1-bridge genus one knots \(K_{m,n,h}\) with \(m \geq 1, h \geq 0\), and \(n \geq m+2\), which are depicted in the paper. They first give a presentation of the group of \(K_{m,n,h}\), a presentation for the surgery manifold \(K_{m,n,h}(r)\) with slope \(r\), and a formula for the genus of \(K_{m,n,h}\). Certain exceptional surgeries on \(K_{m,n,h}\) are determined, and it is shown that such knots admit two infinite series of surgeries yielding lens spaces. Conditions on which \(K_{m,n,h}(r)\) are toroidal are also given. Three such toroidal manifolds were first considered in [\textit{M. Teragaito}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 130, No.9, 2803--2808 (2002; Zbl 0997.57033)], which are represented here as 2-fold cyclic branched coverings of the 3-sphere branched over specifically depicted hyperbolic 3-bridge knots and links.
