This paper is aimed towards studying the stability of a three-layer operator-difference weighted scheme whose system of equations consists of discrete counterparts of abstract hyperbolic and parabolic equations. Such computational schemes, as considered in this work, arise after the complete discretisation of linear coupled thermoelasticity problems. For the scheme considered stability estimates, similar to the energy estimates for the solution of an abstract Cauchy problem of the type of coupled thermoelasticity problems and for the first derivative of the solution, are proven. These stability estimates can then be used to derive error estimates for schemes of the approximate solution of thermoelasticity problems. Thus, the results obtained in this paper are focussed towards understanding the accuracy of difference and projection-difference schemes for thermoelasticity problems.
