Consider the planar system \[ \begin{aligned} {dx\over dt} &= y+ a_1x^3+ a_2x^2 y+(a_7- 3a_6) xy^2+ a_3y^3,\\ {dy\over dt} &= -2x^3+ a_4y^2+ a_5 xy+ a_6y^3,\end{aligned}\tag{\(*\)} \] where \(a_i\), \(i= 1,\dots, 7,\) are real parameters. First, the author derives necessary and sufficient conditions on the coefficients \(a_i\) for the origin to be a weak focus of order seven. Then he gives a perturbation of system \((*)\) depending on a small parameter such that the perturbed system has seven small amplitude limit cycles.
