    A function \(\varphi: \mathbb R\to \mathbb C\) is called two-direction refinable if \(\varphi\) satisfies the following refinement equation \[ \varphi(x)=d\sum_kp_k^+\varphi(dx-k)+d\sum p_k^-\varphi(k-dx) \] with integer \(d\geq 2\). Concerning the two-direction refinable functions, the authors introduce the concept of two-direction dual frames in the Sobolev spaces \(H^{(s)}(\mathbb R)\) and \(H^{(-s)}(\mathbb R)\) (\(s>0\)). Let \(\varphi,\tilde\varphi\in H^{(s)}(\mathbb R)\) be a two-direction refinable functions. The authors find a condition under which there exist \(2d\) two-direction refinable functions \((\psi_l)_{l=1}^d\subset V_1\) and \((\tilde\psi_l)_{l=1}^d\subset \tilde V_1\) such that \((\{\psi^{(l)}(x)\},\{\tilde\psi^{(l)}(x)\})\) generates a pair of dual two-direction frames in \((H^{(s^*)}(\mathbb R),H^{-(s^*)}(\mathbb R))\) where \(s^*=\min\{1,s\}\), \(V_j=\text{span}\left\{d^{\frac{j}{2}}\varphi(d^jx-k),d^{\frac{j}{2}}\varphi(-d^jx-k)\right\}\), \(\tilde V_j=\text{span}\left\{d^{\frac{j}{2}}\tilde\varphi(d^jx-k),d^{\frac{j}{2}}\tilde\varphi(-d^jx-k)\right\}\).
