The present paper has a survey character and contains a series of results in the field of quasiconformal mappings. In particular, intersections of this theory with the theory of harmonic functions are discussed. The work includes a description of general properties of quasionformal mappings, its geometric definition trough moduli of path families, and examples of quasiconformal mappings. Some general properties of harmonic quasiconformal mappings in the plane and in the space are discussed. In particular, results on moduli of continuity of harmonic quasiconformal mappings can be found here. The last section is devoted to open problems in this subject.
