Let \(C\) be a genus 5 smooth algebraic curve defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. A \textit{bi-elliptic involution} of \(C\) is an involution yielding a quotient curve of genus 1. In this case the number of bi-elliptic involutions is 1, 2, 3 or 5 if \(C\) is non-hyperelliptic. A \textit{bi-elliptic Weierstrass point} is a point fixed by a bi-elliptic involution. In the paper under review, the authors study such curves with 3 or 5 bi-elliptic involutions. They construct a correspondence between some of them with 3 bi-elliptic involutions and certain genus 3 curves with 3 bi-elliptic involutions with product 1. Then they obtain information about the number of bi-elliptic Weierstrass points. Finally the authors consider genus 5 curves with more than 120 automorphisms. They classify the Humbert curve with 160 automorphisms and the Wiman curve as the unique non-hyperelliptic genus 5 curves whose automorphism groups act transitively on the Weierstrass points. In this context non-hyperelliptic smooth curves of genus 3 and 5 also were considered in recent work by \textit{C. Keem} and \textit{G. Martens} [Arch. Math. 94, No. 4, 339--349 (2010; Zbl 1205.14042)].
