    The paper presents the design of a novel energy-efficient and fully tilting vehicle with one front and two rear wheels. To guarantee the energy efficiency of the tilting system, the tilting motion needs to be initiated similar to motorcycles. Stability analysis of an analytically derived model reveals partially unstable weave-, wobble- and capsize-modes of the uncontrolled three-wheeler. To guarantee a safe and comfortable operation of the vehicle, the authors develop a steer-by-wire control system. First test runs with the controlled prototype of the three-wheeler show promising results.
