It is well known (Efimov's theorem) that the least upper bound of the Gaussian curvature of any complete surface in the three dimensional Euclidean space is non negative. In this note the authors consider similar questions for surfaces in the Heisenberg group. In that case, surfaces with external curvature bounded by a negative constant do exist. Moreover, the authors show that if the surface can be written as a graph over the entire \(xy\)-plane, then the greatest lower bound of the absolute value of the Jacobian of the Gaussian map is zero.
