The following problem is investigated: \[ \begin{aligned} &u_t=u^p\Bigl(\Delta u+u^q\Bigr)\quad {\text{ in}}\quad \Omega\times (0, T),\\ &u(x, t)=0\quad {\text{ in}}\quad x\in \partial\Omega, \end{aligned} \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded \({\mathcal C}^{2, \alpha}\)-domain in \(\mathbb R^n\), \(q>1\), \(p>0\). When \(p\in (0, 2)\), \(q>1\) and \(u(x, t)\) is a positive solution for which \({1\over 2}\int_{\Omega}|Du(x, 0)|^2dx\leq {1\over {q+1}}\int_{\Omega}u(x, 0)^{q+1} dx\), the author proves that the solution \(u(x, t)\) blows up in finite time and there exists a constant \(C>0\) so that \(\Bigl(\int_{\Omega}u^{2-p}(x, t) dx\Bigr)^{1\over {2-p}}\leq C|T-t|^{-{1\over {q+p-1}}}\). In the case when \(p>0\), \(q>1\), \(\Omega\) is bounded convex, \(u(x, t)\) is a non-negative solution for which \(u(x, 0)\in {\mathcal C}^{2, \alpha}(\Omega)\cap {\mathcal C}^2(\Omega)\), \(u(x, 0)=0\) for \(x\in \partial\Omega\), \({{\partial u(x, 0)}\over {\partial\nu}}<0\) for \(x\in \partial\Omega\), \(u(x, 0)>0\) for \(x\in \Omega\), \(\Delta u(x, 0)+u(x, 0)^q\geq 0\) for \(x\in \Omega\), the author proves that there are constants \(\beta>0\), \(M>0\), \(C>0\) so that \(u(x, t)\leq M\) for \({\text{ dist}}(x, \partial\Omega)<{{\beta}\over 2}\) and \(u(x, t)\leq C(T-t)^{-{1\over {q-1}}}\) if in addition \(u(x, 0)\in {\mathcal C}^{2, \alpha}(\Omega)\). When \(\Omega\) is a ball in \(\mathbb R^n\) with center the origin \(x=0\), \(p\geq 2\), \(q>1\) and \(u(x, t)\) is a positive symmetric and radially decreasing solution which blows up at \(t=T\), the author proves that \(\lim_{t\longrightarrow T^-}\Bigl((T-t)^{1\over {p+q-1}}\max_{\Omega}u(x, t)\Bigr)=\infty\). Also, if \(\Omega\) is a ball in \(\mathbb R^n\) with center the origin \(x=0\) , \(q>1\), \(p>0\), \(u(x, t)\) is a solution which depends on \(r=|x|\) and \(t\) only, the author gives conditions for \(u(r, 0)\) so that the point \(x=0\) is the only blow-up point.
