The goal of this paper is to extend two well-known results to a field \(k\) of arbitrary characteristic. The first result is that a non singular projective hypersurface of degree \(d\geq 3\) is Chow stable. The second result is that for \(X\) an effective cycle of dimension \(r\) and degree \(d\) in \(\mathbb{P}^n_k\), \(Z(X)\subset \mathrm{Gr}(n-r,n+1)\) the Chow divisor of \(X\), if the log canonical threeshold \(\mathrm{lct}(\mathrm{Gr}(n-r,n+1),Z(X))\) of the induced log pair is greater than \((n+1)/d\) then one has Chow stability of \(X\). The first result was proved by D. Mumford and the second by Y. Lee for characteristic \(0\). The differences with the original proofs are explained in details and some examples and counterexamples are given about the behavior of the lct in positive characteristic. The paper is well written and contains interesting materials.
