In this study, the authors utilize the three-variable Fenton-Karma model to simulate the dynamics of action potential propagation. This model allows for the spatially inhomogeneous voltage diffusion coefficient to account for both normal and injured cells. They compute the pseudo-electrocardiogram that replicates the R and T waves while keeping an eye on the propagation of action potentials in the heart tissue. A double exponential law governs the variation of the R-wave amplitude in relation to the diffusion coefficient, which is spatially homogeneous in the case of an isotropic tissue. The computed pseudo-electrocardiogram may exhibit T-wave inversion if the diffusion coefficient is made more spatially heterogeneous by adding a defective region that represents injured heart cells. The T-wave's change in polarity from positive to negative is examined in relation to the defective region's depth and length.
