KMS functionals, whose study can be traced in statistical mechanics, are formulated in Poisson geometry in terms of a vector field \(X\) and a positive real number \(\beta\). \textit{A. Weinstein} [J. Geom. Phys. 23, No. 3--4, 379--394 (1997; Zbl 0902.58013)] displayed their link with the underlying geometry, in particular with an invariant called the modular form (when \(X\) is a Poisson vector field). The paper under review is a first step towards investigating to what extend the set \(KMS(X,\beta)\) of KMS functionals captures information about the underlying symplectic foliation. The authors focus on \(b\)-Poisson manifolds and look at general KMS functionals, including the ones which do not arise from smooth densities. Their main result is a complete classification of \(KMS(X,\beta)\) for all choices of Poisson vector field \(X\) and \(\beta > 0\).
