Let \(d\) an additive map defined on a prime ring \(R\) as follows: \(d(xy)=d(x)y+xd(y)\), for all \(x,y\in R\). In this case, it is called \textit{derivation}. Any additive map \(F:R\longrightarrow R\) it is called \textit{generalized derivation} if \(F(xy)=F(x)y+xd(y)\), for all \(x,y\in R\), where \(d\) is a derivation of \(R\).\N\NSeveral authors have studied suitable identities in prime and semiprime rings involving derivations and generalized derivations. Recently, following this line of investigation, many papers studied the set \[P(F, S) = \{F(x)x : x \in S\},\] where \(F\) is an additive map of \(R\) and \(S\) is an appropriate subset of \(R\). More precisely, the authors considered the case in which \(P(F,S)\subseteq C\), the extended centroid of \(R\). \N\N\NMotivated by this idea, here the author studies a more general condition: Let \(R\) be a prime ring, \(\mathrm{char}(R)\neq2\), \(F\) a non-zero \(b\)-generalized skew derivation of \(R\), \(L\) a non-central Lie ideal of \(R\) and \(n\geq1\) a fixed positive integer such that \[(F(x)x)^n\in Z(R)\] for all \(x\in L\). If either \(\mathrm{char}(R) = 0\) or \(0\neq \mathrm{char}(R) = p \geq n+1\), then \(R \subseteq M_2(K)\), the \(2\times 2\) matrix ring over a field \(K\).
