On the spectrum of the Sturm-Liouville operator with degenerate boundary conditions (Q656272)

The paper deals with the eigenvalue problem for the Sturm-Liouville equation \[ u''-q(x) u + \lambda u =0 \] on the interval \((0,\pi)\,\) with degenerate boundary conditions \[ u'(0)+ (-1)^{\theta}u'(\pi)= 0\,, \qquad u(0)+(-1)^{\theta+1}u(\pi)= 0\,, \] where \(\theta =0, 1\, \) and \(q\) is any complex-valued function in \(L_{2}(0,\pi)\,\). The paper investigates the properties of the set \(Q\) defined as a set of potentials \(q\) for which the system of root functions of the boundary problem contains associated functions of arbitrarily high order.
