A smooth family of curves \(\sigma=\sigma(s,t)\) moves by the vortex filament equation if it satisfies\N\[\N\sigma_{t} = \sigma_{s} \times \sigma_{ss}.\N\]\NSolitons of this equation are called Hasimoto surfaces.\N\NIn this paper the authors analyze parallel surfaces to a Hasimoto surface in Minkowski 3-space: they examine their geometric properties, such as its Gaussian curvature, its mean curvature, and the coefficients of the first and second fundamental forms, and give necessary conditions in order for the parallel surfaces to a Hasimoto surface to be developable, minimal or elliptic linear Weingarten.
