Let \(w\) be a strictly positive continuously differentiable function in the unit disc \(D\) for which \[(1-\vert z\vert ^2)\vert \nabla w (z) \vert \leq k_w w(z),~z\in \mathcal{D}\] with constant \(k_w > 0\). The \(w\)-Bloch space \(\mathcal{B}^w\) is defined as the set of \(f\) in \(H (\mathcal{D})\) for which \[\vert \vert f\vert \vert_{\mathcal{B}^w}=\sup_{z\in \mathcal{D} }\vert f'(z)\vert (1-\vert z\vert ^2) w(z)<\infty.\] Section 2 of the paper under review formulates and proves some characterizations of \(w\)-Bloch spaces including the fact that if \(w\equiv 1\), \(\mathcal{B}^w = \mathcal{B}\) (the Bloch space) and \(k_w > 0 \). Section 3 discusses extensions of results in Section 2 when \( f \) in \(\mathcal{B}^w\) is univalent .
