A positive integer \(d=\prod_{i=1}^r p_i^{d_i}\) is an exponential divisor or an e-divisor of \(n=\prod_{i=1}^r p_i^{n_i}\) \((>1)\) if \(d_i\mid n_i\) for all prime divisors \(p_i\) of \(n\). In addition, \(1\) is an e-divisor of \(1\). \par It is well known that the set of positive integers is a poset under the usual divisibility relation and that the convolution of incidence functions of this poset corresponds the classical Dirichlet convolution. The set of positive integers is likewise a poset under the e-divisibility relation. Utilizing this observation the author shows that the e-convolution of arithmetical functions is another example of a number theoretic convolution of incidence functions of posets. The author also shows that the identity, units and the Möbius function are preserved in this process. Further examples of number theoretic convolutions of incidence functions of posets can be found in Chapter 7 of \textit{P. J. McCarthy} [Introduction of arithmetical functions, Springer (1986; Zbl 0591.10003)]. \par The concept of an e-divisor originates with \textit{M. V. Subbarao} [On some arithmetic convolutions, The Theory of Arithmetic Functions, Proc. Conf. Western Michigan Univ. 1971, Lecture Notes in Math. No. 251, Springer, 247--271 (1972; Zbl 0237.10009)].\par Further material can be found in \textit{X. Cao} and \textit{W. Zhai} [J. Integer Seq. 13, No. 3, Article ID 10.3.7, 13 p. (2010; Zbl 1210.11101)] and in the paper under review.
