The aim of this paper is to consider a problem that somehow is halfway between the case of curves and the higher-dimensional variety. The authors consider a generalization of the theory of Higgs bundles over a smooth complex projective curve in which the twisting of the Higgs field by the canonical bundle of the curve is replaced by a rank 2 vector bundle. After introducing the objects and defining stability, they give an algebraic construction of their moduli space modeled on a construction of the moduli space of Higgs bundles on a higher-dimensional variety given by \textit{C. T. Simpson} [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 80, 5--79 (1995; Zbl 0891.14006)]. They also study deformations generalizing the standard approach followed in [\textit{I. Biswas} and \textit{S. Ramanan}, J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 49, No. 2, 219--231 (1994; Zbl 0819.58007)]. They then define a Hitchin map in this situation and give a spectral correspondence and also state a Hitchin-Kobayashi correspondence for a generalization of Hitchin's equations to this situation. This work consists of the following basic parts:\N\N1. Open questions;\N\N2. \(V\)-twisted Higgs bundles;\N\N3. The Hitchin morphism for \(V\)-twisted \(SL(2, \mathbb{C})\)-Higgs bundles;\N\N4. Gauge-theoretic equations and Hitchin-Kobayashi correspondence.
