Note on the relations in the tautological ring of \(\mathcal M_{g}\) (Q657357)

This paper investigates the tautological ring of the moduli space of smooth genus \(g\) curves by providing a few new non-trivial relations. The main technique is torus fixed-point localization on the moduli of stable quotients, as introduced by \textit{A. Marian, D. Oprea}, and \textit{R. Pandharipande} [Geom. Topol. 15, No. 3, 1651--1706 (2011; Zbl 1256.14057)]. The precise statements of the relations are a bit complicated and notationally cumbersome, so this reviewer suggests perusing the introduction of the present paper, where the relations are described and put in context of other similar relations and the well-known Faber conjecture. The main approach of the paper is a continuation of techniques developed by \textit{E. Ionel} [Duke Math. J. 129, No. 1, 157--186 (2005; Zbl 1086.14023); \url{arxiv:math/0312100}].
