Given a 3-manifold \(M\) and a Heegaard splitting \((\Sigma,H_{1},H_{2})\) of \(M,\) consider the set \(Aut(M)\) of orientation preserving automorphisms \(M\rightarrow M\). The set of connected components of \(Aut(M)\) forms a group \(Mod(M)\) called the mapping class group. The subset of \(Aut(M)\) consisting of maps that send \(\Sigma\) onto itself is denoted by \(Aut(M,\Sigma).\) The set of connected components of \(Aut(M,\Sigma)\) again forms a group which will be denoted by \(Mod(M,\Sigma).\) In the present paper the author considers the Heegaard splitting \((\Sigma,H_{1},H_{2})\) of the 3-torus \(T^{3}\) and he finds a set of generators for the group \(Mod(T^{3},\Sigma).\) More concretely, he finds a eight element generating set for \(Mod(T^{3},\Sigma).\) Six of these generators induce generating elements of the mapping class group of the \(T^{3}\) and the remaining two elements are isotopy trivial in \(T^{3}.\)
