\textit{V. P. Shunkov} [Algebra Logic 11, 260--272 (1973; Zbl 0275.20074); translation from Algebra Logika 11, 470--493 (1972)] proved that a locally finite group with a finite centralizer of an involution is almost locally solvable. Depending on this result, the authors work on a version of Alperin's theorem (see [\textit{D. Gorenstein}, Finite groups. 2nd ed. New York: Chelsea Publishing Company (1980; Zbl 0463.20012), Theorem 7.2.6]) for periodic groups with finite Sylow \(2\)-subgroups. On the contrary to the fact that in infinite groups, even in the locally finite case, Sylow subgroups need not be conjugate, the authors manage to prove nice analogues of the results from finite group theory, including the following corollary:\N\NLet \(G\) be a periodic group with a finite Sylow \(2\)-subgroup \(P\), if \(A\) and \(B\) are normal subsets in \(P\) which are conjugate in \(G\), then they are conjugate in \(N_{G}(P)\).
