The authors study the process of soot formation in combustion focusing on the influence of differential diffusion of chemical species. The flow in the flame is turbulent. The method of investigation is the direct numerical simulation. Influence of diffusion is estimated by comparing results for unity and non-unity Lewis numbers. Calculations support the opinion that soot formation is enhanced by preferential diffusion.
