      Let \(f\) be a holomorphic Hecke eigenform for \(\mathrm{SL}(2, \mathbb{Z})\) with the normalized Fourier coefficients \(\lambda_f(n)\) and \(\chi\) be a Dirichlet character of conductor \(p^r\) for \(r\geq 1\). Let \(W\) denote a bump function supported on the interval \(\lbrack1, 2\rbrack\) and satisfying \(W^{(j)}(x)\ll_j 1\). The purpose of this paper is to show the sub-Weyl type range for cancellations in \(S_{f, \chi} (N)\) defined by \[S_{f, \chi} (N) = \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} \lambda_f(n) \, \chi (n) \, W \left(\frac{n}{N}\right).\] More precisely, it is shown that \[S_{f, \chi} (N) \ll_{\varepsilon} \, N^{\frac{5}{9}} p^{\frac{13r}{45}+\varepsilon}, \] when \(N\) is in the range \(p^{13r/20+\varepsilon} \ll_{\varepsilon} N \leqslant p^{4r/5}\) and \(p>5\) is a prime number.\N\NThe proof is inspired by the approach of \textit{R. Munshi} and \textit{S. Singh} [Algebra Number Theory 13, No. 6, 1395--1413 (2019; Zbl 1461.11077)].
