In [Pure Appl. Math. Q. 7, No. 3, 621--743 (2011; Zbl 1247.11092)] the authors studied integral rootless lattices which are sums of pairs of lattices isomorphic to \(\sqrt{2}E_8\). It was shown that there are exactly \(11\) isometry classes of those lattices. In the paper under review the authors discuss further the subject. For an integral lattice \(E\) and an isometry \(h \in O(E)\) of \(E\), consider a sublattice \(L = M + N\) of an orthogonal sum \(E \perp E\), where \(M = \{(x, x)\,|\, x \in E\}\) and \(N = \{(x, hx)\,|\, x \in E\}\). Note that \(M \cong N \cong \sqrt{2}E\). In this general situation, it is shown that the isometry group \(O(L)\) of the lattice \(L\) contains a wreath product \(\mathbb{Z}_n \wr \mathbb{Z}_2\), where \(n\) is the order of the isometry \(h\). An important example of such a lattice \(L\) is the Barnes-Wall lattice. Next, the authors concentrate on the case \(E \cong E_8\) and show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the \(11\) isometry classes of the lattices classified in the previous paper and the conjugacy classes of the isometries \(h \in O(E_8)\) such that the sublattices \((h-1)E_8\) have no roots. New embeddings of some of those lattices \(L\) in the Leech lattice are also obtained.
