The authors study asymptotic approximations of the following generalization of the Gauss-Weierstrass integral transform of a function \(f:[0,\infty)\to R\): \N\[\NW_\alpha(f;r,t):=\frac{1}{2t}\int_0^\infty r^{-\alpha}s^{\alpha+1}\exp\left(-\frac{r^2+s^2}{4t}\right)I_\alpha\left(\frac{rs}{2t}\right)f(s)ds. \N\]\NThe function \(f\) is assumed to be locally integrable and of a certain exponential growth at the infinity, \(I_\alpha\) is a modified Bessel function, and the parameters satisfy \(r,t>0\) and \(\alpha\ge -1/2\). The function \(W_\alpha(f;r,t)\) is the solution of a certain differential problem related to the heat equation with initial conditions defined by the function \(f\). The standard Gauss-Weierstrass transform is the particular case \(\alpha=-1/2\).\N\NThe authors derive the following asymptotic expansion when \(t\to 0^+\), \N\[\NW_\alpha(f;r,t):=\sum_{n=0}^N\frac{1}{n!}\left(\frac{4t}{r^2}\right)^n\sum_{k=0}^{2N}\frac{f^{(k)}(r)}{k!}r^kC_\alpha(n,k)+o(t^N), \N\]\Nwhere the coefficients \(C_\alpha(n,k)\) are defined in the form of a finite sum of certain combinatorial objects.\N\NWhen the function \(f\) is a real analytic function, this expansion has a more simple form: \N\[\NW_\alpha(f;r,t)\sim\sum_{n=0}^\infty c_n(\alpha,f,r)t^n,\N\]\Nwhere the coefficients \(c_n(\alpha,f,r)\) are defined in terms of derivatives of the function \(f(s)\) at \(s=r\).\N\NSome localization results that characterize the function \(W_\alpha(f;r,t)\) according to its growth rate are also given.\N\NFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1515.46001].
