The structure of finitely generated abelian groups is well-known. In this paper, the author provides a similar result for finitely generated \(n\)-ary abelian groups. An \(n\)-ary group \((G, f)\) is called Abelian if and only if for all \(x_1, x_2, \ldots, x_n\in G\) and all permutaion \(\sigma\), we have \N\[\N f(x_{\sigma(1)}, x_{\sigma(2)}, \ldots, x_{\sigma(n)})=f(x_1, x_2, \ldots, x_n).\N\]\NAlso, an \(n\)-ary group \((G, f)\) is called semi-cyclic if and only if the retract \(\mathrm{ret}_a(G, f)\) is cyclic.\N\NIt is proved that every finitely generated abelian \(n\)-ary group can be uniquely decomposed into the direct product of finitely many indecomposable semi-cyclic \(n\)-ary groups. Some applications are also given.
