The paper considers the mixed (retarded-advanced) functional differential equation \[ [a(t)[x''(t)]^{\gamma}]'=q(t)f(x[\tau(t)]) + p(t)h(x[\sigma(t)]) \] with continuous coefficients; \(\gamma\) is the ratio of two odd integers, \(a(t)>0\), \(q(t)>0\), \(p(t)>0\), \(\tau(t)<t\), \(\sigma(t)>t\), \(\tau(\cdot)\) and \(\sigma(\cdot)\) are nondecreasing, \(\lim_{t\rightarrow\infty}\tau(t)=\infty\); \(xf(x)>0\), \(xh(x)>0\) and these functions are nondecreasing. Also \[ \begin{aligned} -f(-xy)\geq h(xy)\geq h(x)h(y),&\;xy>0\\-h(-xy)\geq f(xy)\geq f(x)f(y),&\;xy>0.\end{aligned} \] The authors discuss the so called Property B (every solution of the equation is oscillatory or satisfies \(\lim_{t\rightarrow\infty}| x(t)| =\infty\)). First, the nonoscillatory behavior is classified. Finally, criteria for displaying Property B are given together with some examples.
