Periodic groups saturated with finite simple unitary groups of degree \(4\) over finite fields of odd characteristic (Q6631343)

Following previous characterizations by the third and fourth author [Algebra Logic 57, No. 3, 201--210 (2018; Zbl 1483.20085); translation from Algebra Logika 57, No. 3, 306--320 (2018); Sib. Math. J. 63, No. 6, 1117--1120 (2022; Zbl 1531.20050); translation from Sib. Mat. Zh. 63, No. 6, 1308--1312 (2022)], the authors now prove that if a periodic group \(G\) has centralizers whose every finitely generated subgroup is contained in a simple unitary group of degree \(4\) over a finite field of characteristic \(p\), then \(G\) is a simple unitary group of degree \(4\) over a locally finite field of characteristic \(p\).
