The authors consider the following question: given a manifold \({\mathcal M}\), which measured dynamical systems can be realised as uniquely minimal homeomorphisms on \({\mathcal M}\)? The main result asserts that this class of dynamical systems is stable under extension. Some results in this direction are: 1) constructions of smooth diffeomorphisms on manifolds satisfying some specific ergodic properties; 2) general results about topological realisations. The proof uses a theorem stating that any extension between two ergodic systems is isomorphic to a skew-product on Cantor sets.
