The authors establish Sobolev and Poincaré inequalities on Sobolev spaces defined on cone type manifolds. Given a manifold \(X\), consider the spaces \[ X^{\wedge}=(0,\infty)\times X,\quad X^{\triangle}=\frac{[0,\infty)\times X}{\{0\}\times X}. \] A paracompact topological space \(B\) is a cone type manifold if it is finite dimensional manifold containing a finite subset \(B_{0}=\{b_{1},\dots,b_{n}\}\subset B\) such that the following conditions are satisfied: (i) \(B\backslash B_{0}\) is a \(C^{\infty}\) manifold. (ii) For each \(b_{i}\in B_{0}\) there exists a \(C^{\infty}\) manifold \(X_{i}\) and a open neighbourhod \(U_{i}\subset B\) of \(b_{i}\) and a homeomorphism \(\phi_{i}:U\rightarrow X^{\triangle}_{i}\) whose restriction to \(\phi':U\backslash\{b_{i}\} \rightarrow X^{\wedge}_{i}\) is a diffeomorphism. The stretched manifold \(\mathbb{B}\) is a closed manifold such that (i) \(\partial\mathbb{B}\simeq \bigcup_{i=1}^{n}X_{i}\), (ii) \(B\backslash B_{0}\simeq \mathbb{B}\backslash \partial\mathbb{B}=\int(\mathbb{B})\). Locally, for each \(b_{i}\in\mathbb{B}\) the neighbourhood \(\mathbb{U}_{i}\subset\mathbb{B}\) is diffeomorphic to \([0,1)\times X_{i}\). \noindent Let \(\mathcal{A}(\mathbb{C})\) the space of entire functions. The authors consider the Mellin transform \(M:C^{\infty}_{0}(\mathbb{R}_{+})\rightarrow \mathcal{A}(\mathbb{C})\), given by \[ Mu(z)=\int^{\infty}_{0}t^{z}u(t)\frac{dt}{t}. \] \noindent They define the weighted Mellin Sobolev spaces and prove Poincaré and Sobolev inequalities in this context. So, they apply their extension to prove the existence of non-trivial weak solutions for the Dirichlet boundary value problem for the Dirichlet problem \[ -\triangle_{\mathbb{B}}u =u\mid u\mid^{p-1} \, \text{for \(1<p<\frac{n+2}{n-2}\), \(x\in \mathbb{B}\)}, \] \[ u =0\, \text{ on }\partial\mathbb{B}. \]
