Let \(L\) be a finite dimensional Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p\). The algebra is restricted if there is a map \(x \mapsto x^{[p]}\) such that \((\text{ad}\, x)^p = \text{ad}\,x^{[p]}\). If \(L\) is contained in a restricted Lie algebra, its \(p\)-envelope \(L_{(p)}\) is the smallest restricted subalgebra containing \(L\). The authors observe that the universal enveloping algebra \(U(L_{(p)})\) is a purely transcendental scalar extension of \(U(L)\). Known results from the restricted case then imply that when \(L\) is non-abelian solvable, the division ring of fractions of \(U(L)\) is an elementary abelian crossed product: it has a maximal subfield, Galois over the center, with \(p\)-elementary abelian Galois group.
